Karen Dickenson Smith, MPH, MBA

Karen Dickenson Smith brings extensive experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. She has worked at multiple levels from front-line to senior leadership across health, social services, education, human resources, finance, and technology. Her diverse portfolios of up to $23M and 300 people have spanned the Vancouver Coastal, Vancouver Island, and Fraser regions with provincial touchpoints.
Committed to improving health and resiliency for children, youth, families, and communities, Karen’s focus areas have included Maternal Infant and Family Health, Early Childhood Development, Youth Sexual Health, Clinical Counselling and Family Supports, Public Health, Mental Health and Substance Use, Harm Reduction, Communicable Disease Control, Speech and Audiology, Workforce Development, and Clinical Information Systems.
Karen holds master’s degrees in public health (MPH) and business administration (MBA) , and various clinical and management certifications. She currently serves on the steering committee for First Call BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, running, and adventures with her husband, two teenagers, and JJ the wonderhound.
