FSGV’s 90th Anniversary Soirée Set to be the Bee’s Knees
October 2, 2018
(Vancouver, BC) On October 24, 2018, Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV)—one of Canada’s oldest continuing social services agencies—will mark its 90th anniversary by whisking guests back in time to the roaring twenties.
For one night Vancouver’s grand Terminal City Club will transform into a 1920s speakeasy where roaming performers and swing band The Gatsby Strutters will entertain party goers. Tickets include a delectable cocktail menu, delicious European wine courtesy of the Consulate General of Italy and the Consulate General of France in Vancouver, and beer from Whistler Brewing. All proceeds from FSGV’s Speakeasy Soirée will support the Agency’s life-changing programs and services for local youth and families in need. Live and silent auction items include a stunning Whistler getaway, a Patricia Johnston oil painting courtesy of Winsor Art Projects, and a custom art piece by Daniel Fox.
“We’re incredibly excited to celebrate this important milestone with the community we’ve helped build for over 90 years,” says CEO of Family Services of Greater Vancouver, Karin Kirkpatrick. “FSGV has proudly served several generations of families in Vancouver, and we hope to continue being the community’s trusted safety net for many more years to come.”
Family Services of Greater Vancouver first opened its doors in 1928 in the historic Dominion Building with a $25 donation, a single case worker and mission to support struggling families in British Columbia. The Agency has since grown to almost 500 staff operating more than 80 community and social services programs across 13 locations in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Through counselling and other critical social supports, FSGV has helped hundreds of thousands of families and individuals navigate life’s challenges, and create a better, brighter future for themselves and their children.
Tickets include live entertainment, a cocktail menu with hosted wine and beer. Proceeds will allow FSGV to continue delivering life-changing programs and services to families and youth in need.
Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) is a community-based not-for-profit organization that provides counselling and other essential services to the most vulnerable people in our community. For 90 years FSGV has been transforming the lives of those most at-risk—from youth experiencing homelessness, families impacted by trauma, women and children escaping violence, and isolated seniors and newcomers to Canada seeking community and connection.
