Parent-Teen Mediation is a free and 100% confidential program offered to residents of Burnaby and New Westminster, with the goal of reuniting families experiencing parent-teen conflict.
Our staff have university degrees and training in conflict resolution and are experienced working with youth. We aim to improve relationships and keep parent-teen bonds powerful and supportive.
The program consists of mediation sessions that typically last about 10-12 sessions per family over the course of 3-4 months. We strive to address the unique needs of each family and provide individualized support.
Our mediators work with families in whatever location is most convenient for them. We are pleased to be able to offer service in English, Spanish, German, Hebrew, Dutch and Russian.
There are no fees for this program and there are no wait lists. Funding for Parent-Teen Mediation is provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Accessing the program
To gain access to Parent-Teen Mediation, parents must get in contact with their local intake team at the Ministry of Children and Family Development, who will then determine the appropriate service for them. One of our mediators will then get in touch with the family.
