HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS
Financial Empowerment
Food and housing costs in BC are rising, and inflation has hit a 30-year high. With families more stretched than ever, FSGV can help.
We partner with community organizations—including public libraries, school districts, cities, neighbourhood houses, and health authorities—to deliver a range of free Financial Empowerment workshops.
Our programs are designed to assist families, newcomers, seniors, people with low incomes, youth, and vulnerable populations. FSGV also offers free tax-filing clinics and one-on-one coaching.
Support for Single Parents
According to the BC Council for Families, 8% of BC households are led by a single parent. We know the challenges facing households can be felt more strongly by single parents, including financial and housing insecurity, the impacts of health and mental health issues, access to adult education, community participation, and isolation.
Our programs, including COLTS Young Parent Program and Daycare, Healthy Connections, Single Mothers Support Group, and more help single parents with their immediate needs and build pathways to a brighter future for their families.
Access to Early Interventions
Supporting families early — before the moment of acute need — has long-term benefits for generations to come.
FSGV is also dedicated to providing upstream solutions to issues like family violence. By helping children and youth today and providing a platform for counselling and life skills development, we are helping the families of tomorrow.
Through programs at Directions Youth Services, Parent-Teen Mediation, Providing Resources and Independence for Youth Development (PRIYD), and others, we can focus on the education and supports that have long-term effects.
