Over 350 people were served at The Street Store’s one day pop-up shop that took place on November 23rd. Unlike other pop-ups, however, folks from the DTES had the opportunity to pick up clothes and food at absolutely no cost.
The store gave away 200 breakfast tokens from Save On Meats, 60 large bags of clothing from Electronic Arts, 200 pairs of socks, 6 large vats of coffee, 200 granola bars, 100 umbrellas, and 100 hand warmers. The store was open from 12 to 4 pm and ran out of stock. The event also featured a folk band who kept the mood upbeat and fun!
The Street Store was an initiative of Electronic Arts, A Better Life Foundation, with support from Directions Youth Services, a Division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver. Three cheers to our own Colin Ford who helped organize the event!
