VICTIM SUPPORT SERVICES
Victims Support Services at FSGV provides compassionate, trauma-informed support to people of all ages impacted by violence.
what we do
With staff teams focused on exploitation, family and intimate partner violence, elder abuse, and child abuse, our support workers let each person define their situation, needs, and next steps. FSGV support workers offer:
- Safety planning
- Advocacy
- Justice system navigation
- Emotional support
- Resource connections across the community, including counselling, medical services, housing support programs, and more
All the Victim Support Services at FSGV are tailored to the individual. When people come to us, they don’t always know what their next steps are or what options are available to them.
Often in this program, support workers work with people over the course of several years in order to—at a sustainable pace—regain a sense of control, access meaningful support, and move forward with dignity and informed choice. This pace allows things to unfold step by step and builds a greater depth of trust and care with our support workers.

our impact
Each year, we’re walking with survivors, every step of the way. The impact?
These are the numbers and while they outline a story, they can’t tell it on their own. The changes that happen for the people FSGV supports can’t quite be quantified. The relationships between support workers and their clients are guided by centering the client’s choice, autonomy, and power. This is client-led, trauma-informed support. You can be part of the community making this life-changing depth of support for victims possible.
The victim services program at Family Services of Greater Vancouver is looking for committed community members to sustain this work. If you’re ready to support survivors with FSGV, please get in touch with our team at [email protected] or donate today.
