FSGV is a charity supporting survivors with trauma-informed, client led, compassionate care. Last year, we supported more than 1,000 victims and survivors with:

  • Safety planning
  • Specialized counselling
  • Help navigating the criminal justice system
  • Emotional support
  • Creating plans for building community and other forms of support
  • Learning about trauma and its impacts
  • Resource referral

Our mission is to build brighter tomorrows. For our work with victims and survivors this means taking an individualized, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to make sure they have the tools, supports, and knowledge to get where they want to be.

For children and youth ages 3-18 who have been sexually abused, SAIP is a program with age- and developmentally-appropriate counselling centered on safety, choice, and connection in order to help young people restore their sense of autonomy, self, and power—building a resilient foundation for their future.

For people in high-risk situations of intimate partner violence, our Victim Support Services provide emotional support, safety planning, and guidance navigating the criminal justice system. Committed to upholding client autonomy, this support is often the beginning of people reclaiming their choice.

For adult survivors of childhood trauma, our Stopping the Violence counselling program helps build an understanding of the impacts of abuse, strengthen coping and self-advocacy skills, and develop safety and support plans. STV creates a space for healing, self-discovery, empowerment, and connection.

For children and youth ages 3-18 who have witnessed violence at home, our PEACE program uses play therapy, art therapy, and specialized forms of talk therapy to work with these young victims. Young people build a sense of safety, understand their emotions, and strengthen healthy relationships—all to foster resilience and interrupt cycles of violence.

For children, youth, and adults who have been or are being exploited, our Victim Support Workers are there from the beginning, with consistency, advocating for and working with their clients from safety planning to the court room—however long support is needed.

For pregnant people and new parents who want to heal trauma as they begin a new chapter in their lives, our Healthy Connections program offers counselling, co-parent support, and connection-building groups for addressing trauma and isolation. This program helps survivors and their families feel more connected, confident, and supported during the critical early years of their child’s life.
