This program requires a referral from your MCFD social worker.

Description

When children and youth are unable to stay with their parents, the transition can be difficult. FSGV is here with support for them and their kinship caregivers or foster parents, providing ______ {actually, realizing I’m not sure what the supports  include!!}. We’re here when things are tough, to make a space for the complexity of feelings, to {foster} safety………….  

Caregiver-focused (foster parent or kinship caregivers) – counsellors don’t usually meet with the kids. Parenting support, resources (how to apply for… things – reimbursement and submitting receipts, going on a trip, a lot of administrative support on working with MCFD, community kitchen (building community and life skills)), pscho-education about child development so caregiver can support child, lot of support around working with MCFD, day to day care of the child.
