Eligibility

Directions Youth Services clients ages 15 to 24 years old.

Description

SYJA operates from the Directions Drop-In Centre. We offer flexible work opportunities to earn money and build on your strengths. We offer same-day pay! The job opportunities include: 

  • Needle sweeps 
  • Inside cleaning 
  • Street cleaning and garbage removal 

We provide training, safety equipment and clothing, and lunch. If you’re looking for more support, we offer one-on-one support and life-skills workshops on topics such as applying and interviewing for jobs, renting, money skills, and more.

Transitions for Youth to Adulthood

Eligibility

This program requires a referral from your MCFD social Worker and is for youth ages 16-18 who are involved with Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services (VACFSS) or the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).

TYA is here as a bridge, helping you get where you want to be. We understand that there are things everyone needs help in learning, but school doesn’t teach. Our Transition Workers can help you build up the practical skills you want to work on, strengthen your support network, and plan for and take your next steps. We’re here to help you build up a stable foundation, on your terms. Whether it’s finding secure housing, landing the job you want, or applying to an education or training program—we’re here to help.

Financial Empowerment

This program is open to anyone who needs help. We typically work with low-income families and individuals, single parents, newcomers and refugees, youth, and seniors.

Description

Financial Empowerment coaches and facilitators know that money isn’t always simple or easy. That’s why we offer judgement-free workshops and one-on-one coaching on money topics to make sure you can learn the information and skills you need. Whether it’s budgeting, saving accounts for the future (RSPs), filing taxes, or figuring out which benefits to apply for—FE is here to help you build confidence with money.
