Family Counselling
FSGV has two family counselling programs, serving families of all shapes and sizes.
In each program, counsellors walk alongside parents and caregivers as they build the skills and confidence needed to support their children’s growth and safety. With parent education, counselling, and connections to community resources, family counsellors work with families on individualized and intensive goals.
what we do
Family Preservation
Family Preservation supports families at pivotal moments, helping them strengthen relationships and stay together whenever safely possible. Working alongside families on individualized plans, counsellors provide therapeutic support, parenting education, and practical tools tailored to each family’s needs. With compassion and consistency, this program helps parents build skills to create more stable, supportive home environments for their children and themselves.
Group Programs
The group programming we run changes from season to season, based on topics that are responsive to clients’ needs. Each group is led by two of our counsellors, and they are open to current clients and the public. Recent groups have run on coping and self-care skills, learning about attachment styles, parenting tweens, and raising children with neurodivergence and support needs. To see upcoming groups, check out our calendar.
Project Parent
Project Parent walks alongside parents and caregivers as they build the skills and confidence needed to support their children’s growth. Through individual and family counselling, parent education, and connections to community resources, families set and pursue their own goals. This strengths-based approach helps parents meet their children’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs, fostering a safer and more supportive foundation for all members of the family.
