Advocacy & Campaigns

We’re building brighter tomorrows with our clients and our community.

Family Services of Greater Vancouver works with victims and survivors, families, and youth every single day of the year. The direct service we provide isn’t where our support ends. Throughout the year, FSGV runs two advocacy and awareness campaigns: one during Victims and Survivors of Crime Week and the other during Homelessness Action Week.

Every May, FSGV’s experienced Victim Support Workers and Counsellors are available for interviews about the issues they’re experts in. Namely: supporting survivors of trauma. They speak about their work, the impact of trauma, the difference trauma supports make, and more. The goal? To raise awareness that free, compassionate supports are available to survivors in our communities.

Each year in October, FSGV participates in Homelessness Action Week. Through media availability, staff interviews, educational blogs and newsletters, and more—our goal is to shift public understanding and perception about homelessness in our communities and the solutions we can all be part of.

Our annual holiday fundraiser raises awareness and funds for the work FSGV does all year long in support of survivors, families, and youth. Many of our neighbours don’t have the tools and resources they need and are just doing what they can to survive. We’re doing what we can to help them thrive. For many clients, this means taking a wrap-around, big picture approach to providing support—every day of the year.
