Family Day 2023

Published: February 8, 2023

In 2023, we know that family is not a narrow concept; families are dynamic, diverse, and unique.

This Family Day, we’re focused on inclusivity. You define family. We’ll support it. Highlighting the role Family Services of Greater Vancouver plays in creating resilient families and communities, we invite people to build their own families using paper dolls.

We know many families are going through hard times. Through this campaign, we want to reassure people that staff at Family Services are here to walk alongside families as they navigate the trauma, financial instability, and mental health challenges that may weigh heavy on their shoulders:

  • For those struggling financially, our Financial Empowerment team offers 1-on-1 coaching and workshops.
  • For newcomers having a difficult time adjusting to their new home, Richmond Family Friends connects them to a mentor family in the community.
  • For parents daunted by pregnancy, Healthy Connections provides counselling to work through any trauma-related issues.
  • For those looking to learn healthy and low-budget food recipes, Community Kitchens combines cooking guidance with social connection.
  • For parents seeking resources and a friendly place to discuss parenting, our Parent Education and Support Groups can be a safe space for learning and friendship.

You define family. We support it… yet another piece in Family Services of Greater Vancouver’s nearly 100-year rich tapestry of services and programs.
