Alexa Young
Nominating; Governance

Alexa brings 20 years of experience of providing guidance to C-Suite executives, developing integrated strategies and building modern government relations, public affairs and sustainability functions across BC’s natural resource and tech sectors. This has included many of Vancouver’s leading organizations and top publicly traded companies including Teck, TELUS and the BC Council of Forest Industries (COFI).

Most recently, Alexa served as VP, Sustainability, Government and Public Affairs at COFI and the BC Lumber Trade Council from 2019-2023. Previously, Alexa was VP, (National) Government Affairs at TELUS, leading nation-wide strategic policy procurement and partnership initiatives to connect more Canadians and organizations to the tech and tools needed to innovate and achieve better economic, environmental, health and education outcomes.

Alexa currently serves as a member of the BC Premier’s Innovation and Excellence Awards and Innovate BC’s Ignite Program adjudication committees, as well as on the Board of North Shore Neighbourhood House. She has previously served on the Board of the Digital Technology Supercluster, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and US Mining Association, as Chair of the BC Business Council’s Federal Engagement Task Force, and as a Member of the Mining Association of Canada’s Towards Sustainable Mining Governance Team.

Alexa holds a MSc in Politics and Communications from the London School of Economics, a BAH in Political Science from Queen’s and a Professional Specialization in Public Policy and Governance from UVic. In 2021, was recognized as one of Business in Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40. She is an alumnus of the 2017 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference and received a 2016 Vancouver Board of Trade Wendy McDonald Award. Born and raised in New Brunswick, Alexa is a proud and passionate pan-Canadian with deep roots from coast to coast.
